Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was born March 10 1949. She is an American investor as well as a speaker and consultant. The Corcoran Group, an NYC real estate brokerage was established by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran later left the business. Corcoran is one of ABC's initial Shark investors was a featured guest of each episode of Shark Tank. By February 2020, she had completed 53 deals. The most significant of these was a $350,000 investment for Coverplay at 40%. Corcoran was the second child of 10 kids born to an Irish-Catholic couple working in the middle class located in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mother and also a housekeeper. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father during Corcoran's early years. The family relied on food deliveries from the local grocer who would deliver free food. Corcoran is still able to remember her father as someone who would drink often and did not treat her mother with respect. Corcoran was a struggle throughout her education before discovering that she was dyslexic. Corcoran entered the high school system at St. Cecilia High School Englewood following her departure from her Catholic elementary school. After failing several classes during her first year, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School in Leonia, where she was a D-student when she graduated.
